Eclipse 411

Hear that increasingly loud thumping sound? That’s the collective heartbeat of females everywhere racing as The Twilight Saga: Eclipse approaches. The movie’s release is still several months away, but Twilighters of all sexes and species (human, werewolf, vampire, etc.) are already foaming at the mouth. Maybe you haven’t aligned yourself with Team Edward or Team Jacob. And maybe you haven’t kept up with every Eclipse detail. Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.

In Eclipse, Bella Swan once again finds herself surrounded by danger as the city of Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge. In the midst of it all, she’s forced to choose between her love for Edward Cullen and her friendship with Jacob Black — knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the struggle between vampire and werewolf. With graduation quickly approaching, Bella is confronted with the most important decision she’s ever made: life or death.

The film began shooting in mid-August under the direction of David Slade (30 Days of Night, Hard Candy); he takes over the reigns from Chris Weitz. Slade worked from a script by returning scribe Melissa Rosenberg, which was of course based on Stephenie Meyer’s bestselling book. Principle photography officially wrapped on October 29.

Several new actors are joining the Twilight family including Bryce Dallas Howard as Victoria. Howard replaces actress Rachelle Lefevre who played the character in the previous movies. Also new are Xavier Samuel as Riley, Catalina Sandino Moreno as Maria, Jack Huston as Royce King, Julia Jones as Leah, BooBoo Stewart as Seth, and Jodelle Ferland as Bree.

Continuing in the series as members of the Cullen family are Ashley Greene as Alice, Peter Facinelli as Carlisle, Elizabeth Reaser as Esme, Kellan Lutz as Emmett, Nikki Reed as Rosalie, and Jackson Rathbone as Jasper. Billy Burke also returns as Charlie Swan. The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is filming on location in Vancouver, BC.

i>The Twilight Saga: Eclipse brings back members of the Quileute Indian Nation; the classmates of Bella and Edward; and the legendary Volturi, a venerable coven of vampires who weigh and impose the laws of the vampire world. A cast list for film appears at the end of this document.

Eclipse will be the first movie in the series to be presented in IMAX. So, if you’ve ever wanted to drink in the majestic sight of a five-story high Robert Pattinson, well… here’s your chance!

The fourth and final installment in the series, Breaking Dawn, may start shooting as early as this spring. Word on the street is that Summit is mulling splitting the flick into two parts.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse hits North American movie theaters on June 30, 2010.

Bryce joins Anna Kendrick and Seth Rogen

It’s going to be a little “Eclipse” reunion on the set of the film tactfully titled “Seth Rogen Untitled Cancer Dramedy.” According to Variety, Bryce Dallas Howard is joining Anna Kendrick and the rest of the A-list cast on the film once titled “I’m With Cancer.”

Adding to the class reunion is Summit Entertainment, who will be distributing the film, as well as Vancouver, the set location for both this film and “The Twilight Saga”. Fortunately, the two sexy male stars of this film aren’t Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, but rather Seth Rogen and James McAvoy.

Though the replacement title seems to label Seth Rogen as the leading man, the film’s synopsis says it’s James who is really the star of the show. The film is said to be about a 25-year-old (James) who finds out he has cancer, and that the character is based on screenwriter Will Reiser’s real-life experience after he was diagnosed with the disease in his mid-20s. It seems to bode well for James’ character that Will lived to tell the tale.

Since so little is known about the plot of the film, it’s hard to say what role any of the cast will play in the final print. It’s definitely going to be exciting to see Anna’s and Seth’s very different brands of comedy face off against James and Bryce, who we haven’t really seen show off their comedic chops (unless you consider “Wanted” or “Lady in the Water” comedies).

The film still seems a bit far away from a production start date, so hopefully we will see a few more A-listers added to the billing sheet but, if not, these four names are exciting enough to get us to keep this movie in mind as the weeks go on.

Bryce Reveals Her Stance On Santa Claus

Full swing into toddlerhood and Bryce Dallas Howard reveals that 2 ½-year-old son Theodore ‘Theo’ Norman’s age made this past holiday season particularly challenging.

“It’s this age where you get to really start to introduce concepts because he’s speaking … and we had the interesting challenge of introducing Santa Claus,” she shares while visiting The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien recently.

As husband Seth Gabel is Jewish and Bryce herself a “Connecticut W.A.S.P,” the actress admits the situation was “tricky” to say the least! “We don’t want to lie to him,” she insists.

“My husband was like, ‘I’m game for this Santa Claus idea, but can we find a compromise so that he doesn’t have some crippling paradigm shift when he’s 8 [and realizes that] Santa Claus isn’t real?’”

Conjuring up a story that portrayed Santa Claus as “a spirit” that appears during the season of giving, Bryce laughs that Theo wasn’t convinced! “Our son immediately was like, ‘Santa Claus? Who’s Santa Claus?’ And we were like, ‘Well, Santa Claus gives us gifts in this spirit,’ and he’s like, ‘Santa Claus? Where’s Santa Claus?’” she says.

As Conan suggested that the first-time parents are “totally over-thinking this,” Bryce shares that he is not alone in his belief; Her father, director Ron Howard took a similar stance on the matter. “That’s kind of what my parents said,” she reveals. “They were just like there’s reindeer, he flies.”

Despite Bryce and Seth’s determination to be “good parents,” the couple eventually waved the white flag.

“We just lost our way and finally we’re just like, ‘Yeah, he’s approximately 300 lbs., comes down through the chimney, [and] you get a lot of gifts. It’s fantastic.’”

Is Bryce Team Edward or Team Jacob?

Twilight’s latest vampire Bryce Dallas Howard has revealed she is having a tough time choosing between Team Edward and Team Jacob.

The 28-year-old is taking on the role of evil vampire Victoria in the third movie in the franchise, Eclipse, and said she still isn’t sure if she is actually a Team Edward or Team Jacob fan.

She said: ‘I understand Bella’s dilemma. It’s so hard! I mean, I went beserk over Edward when I read Twilight and when I saw the film.

‘In New Moon, Taylor is incredible as Jacob, so I don’t know.’

Bryce, who is in Vancouver filming the 3rd Twilight movie (Eclipse), enjoyed a date night with her husband Seth Gabel. They attended a movie in downtown Vancouver. Bryce replaced Rachelle Lefevre and is playing the character ‘Victoria’.

Eclipse Test Screening Rumors Debunked

2010 kicked off with twi-tastic news that sent fans of the franchise into a full out frenzy. Scammers took to the Internet to cook up a big, fat juicy lie that placed them in an exclusive screening of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. They blogged about the brilliant Bryce Dallas Howard, mingled with the production team and slipped that the official trailer will debut on January 18th at the Golden Globes. So what’s the deal? Are all these rumors really true or did some scammers take Twilight fans for a ride?

Before you work yourself up into a full blown twi-tack know that these are just rumors and nobody has seen the film yet. The rumors that a few lucky fans were handpicked to screen test the film are just extreme lies told by scammers looking for attention. These rumors have gotten attention from everyone and Pel from TwilightLexicon was quoted as saying, “No one is test screening ANYTHING right now. They’re all watching Avatar and saying I’m gonna get you James Cameron and your little dog too. If they’re test screening Eclipse this weekend then I’m having a full frontal threesome snog with Peter Facinelli and Billy Burke.”

With that news past us, let’s focus back on the realm of possibility. Through the rumors these bloggers were typing, they did bring up an interesting topic. They stated, “that Before it started some guy from Summit said that they are going to release the teaser trailer On Janurary[sic] 18th at the Golden Globes.” We are six months away from the film and a trailer would be a nice bonus for Twilight fans, but how long do we have to wait? The Twilight Saga: New Moon trailer debuted in May at the MTV Movie Awards which was six months before the release date. So as we rev up for Awards season, which award show do you think will be privileged with the unveiling of the new trailer?

Film’s shooting captivates an audience

Front Street was scheduled to reopen Wednesday at 7 p.m. “Hereafter” stars Matt Damon, Belgian actress Cecile De France and Bryce Dallas Howard. Damon was not scheduled to participate in the Maui filming.

“Hereafter” cast, crew and extras gather on Front Street as Academy Award-winning director Clint Eastwood (middle left) directs a scene Wednesday afternoon in Lahaina. Eastwood and his crew of 60, and nearly 75 local extras, began three days of shooting on Maui on Tuesday.

Actors sprint along Front Street on Wednesday, chased by a tsunami that will be added using special effects.

Movie fans line barricades closing Front Street while watching Wednesday’s production. Marie Kuhl of Lahaina (from lower right) and Thomas Hoffmann of Frankfurt, Germany, held cameras at the ready. “I think it’s pretty cool to watch,” Kuhl said. Hoffmann said that he hoped to catch a glimpse of Eastwood. “He’s a superstar in Germany,” Hoffmann said. “He’s a real Hollywood legend. I hope I can see him in real. It would be wonderful.”

Bryce Dallas Howard and Xavier Samuel – Eclipse

Bryce Dallas Howard and Xavier Samuel, Taylor Lautner’s new co-stars on “The Twilight Saga’s Eclipse”, have filmed a kissing scene for the highly anticipated vampire drama flick, which will be released in U.S. theaters on June 30, 2010. Filming their scenes for the movie, Bryce and Xavier were snapped locking lips on its set in Vancouver, Canada on Thursday, August 20.

During the filming, both of them were seen wearing black costumes. On the movie, Bryce portrays vampire vamp Victoria, which was initially played by Rachelle Lefevre on “The Twilight Saga’s New Moon”. Australian actor Xavier, in the meantime, stars as “newborn vampire” Riley, a good-looking college student who teams up with Victoria to murder Kristen Stewart’s Bella Swan. And since Riley has an inexplicable weakness, he is corrupted by Victoria.

Off screen, Bryce Dallas Howard and Xavier Samuel are going on really well. They were snapped on Sunday, August 23 hanging out together in Vancouver. Also joining them were the 28-year-old actress’ husband Seth Gabel and son Theodore Norman Howard Gabel.

Van Sant Drama is a Family Affair

The casting process of Columbia and Imagine’s untitled Gus Van Sant drama is keeping with the project’s familial theme.

The feature, on which Bryce Dallas Howard is teaming with father Ron Howard to produce with Brian Grazer, is opening its arms to Dennis Hopper’s son Henry Hopper, who will star opposite Mia Wasikowska.

Schuyler Fisk, daughter of Sissy Spacek, also is boarding the movie.

The drama revolves around a teenage boy and girl who share a preoccupation with mortality.
